THE SIN OF CREMATION according to the Bible says, ( VIDEO )

Cremation has become an increasingly common choice in modern society, offering practicality, affordability, and even environmental benefits. But for many Christians, a pressing question remains: is cremation a sin according to the Bible?

The Bible does not explicitly forbid cremation. There is no commandment stating that a body must not be burned after death. Yet for centuries, theologians, pastors, and believers have debated the subject, drawing on scripture, cultural traditions, and symbolic meanings that extend beyond the physical handling of the body.

Burial in Biblical Tradition
Scripture predominantly describes burial. Abraham purchased a field and cave to bury Sarah (Genesis 23). Jacob and Joseph requested to be laid to rest with their ancestors. The burial of Jesus, wrapped in linen and prepared with spices, set a profound example for Christians, symbolizing faith in resurrection.

Genesis 3:19 says: “For dust you are, and to dust you shall return.” Burial has long reflected this cycle of life, death, and hope of new life, connecting physical rest to spiritual promises.

The Body as a Temple
Passages like 1 Corinthians 6:19 describe the human body as the “temple of the Holy Spirit.” Burial honors the vessel that carried the soul and reflects faith in resurrection (1 Thessalonians 4:16). Some Christians view cremation as troubling because fire appears to destroy the body rather than preserve it.

The Cliffhanger:
But others argue that God’s power is not limited by the body’s fate. Could cremation still align with Christian faith if it is chosen with the right motives?
