Peace Agreements, Strategic Initiatives, and Global Engagement

Aliyev highlighted the peace agreement brokered in August 2025 in Washington, signed by Azerbaijan, Armenia, and witnessed by Donald Trump. He presented the deal as a breakthrough in diplomacy, creating new economic corridors and regional connectivity, including safe supply routes to Azeri exclaves, akin to Alaska’s separation from the U.S. mainland.

He also praised the trilateral framework known as the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP), aimed at fostering long-term stability between the nations. The agreement included sanctions waivers and emphasized lifting what Aliyev described as outdated restrictions stemming from early 1990s conflicts.

Beyond regional issues, Aliyev touted Azerbaijan’s global initiatives, such as hosting the COP29 climate conference, supporting the Paris climate accords, and investing in renewable energy. He underscored the importance of energy security, noting Azerbaijan’s role as a major natural gas exporter and its assistance to Syria’s postwar reconstruction.

Aliyev concluded by urging greater international cooperation, advocating for consistent application of justice, and calling for a world where peace is achieved through concrete actions rather than rhetoric. He framed Azerbaijan as a reliable global partner committed to both regional stability and broader humanitarian and environmental responsibilities.
