Amazon Blames ‘Technical Issue’ For Early Posting Of Kirk Assassination Book

Amazon faced intense scrutiny after a book about the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk briefly appeared for sale with a publication date of September 9, 2025—one day before Kirk was fatally shot at Utah Valley University.

The listing, titled The Shooting of Charlie Kirk, quickly spread across social media, sparking outrage among Kirk’s supporters. Amazon removed the title shortly after the timing was flagged and attributed the issue to a “technical error,” stating that the book was actually released late on September 10, 2025.

“Due to a technical issue, the date of publication displayed for this title was incorrect, and we apologize for any confusion this may have caused,” a spokesperson said. Amazon also confirmed that the book violated its content guidelines and could not remain on the platform.

The incident added to the shock surrounding Kirk’s assassination. Authorities said 22-year-old Tyler Robinson allegedly carried out the attack alone and was turned in by his father, a retired police officer. Experts suggest the premature listing may have been caused by automated systems or AI-assisted content slipping past review processes, though Amazon emphasized it was unintentional.

The removal of the book, while swift, has fueled debate over content moderation and the oversight of AI-generated or automated listings. Meanwhile, investigators continue probing the circumstances surrounding Kirk’s death, including evidence from surveillance, digital records, and Robinson’s possible motives…
