My voice trembled. “You’re saying my grandmother was secretly donating these cards?”

The manager nodded gently. “Every few weeks, she’d come in and buy several, asking us to hold them for anyone struggling to pay. Then one day, she stopped coming. We wondered what had happened. This card—” she gestured toward it “—was the last one she ever purchased. We thought it was lost. It’s been ten years since, and no one ever used it. Until now.”
