Schiff Under Fire After Old Video Of Him Resurfaces

Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) is under scrutiny after a resurfaced 2023 video shows him strongly condemning government shutdowns under President Joe Biden. In the video, Schiff warned about the serious consequences such a shutdown would have on federal workers, TSA employees, and military personnel who would miss paychecks if funding lapsed.
“Had the government shut down, hundreds of thousands of people would have not gotten their paychecks. Federal employees would have been furloughed, sent home. Others deemed essential, like TSA workers, they would have been forced to go to work and not paid,” Schiff said in the video.
Now, with President Donald Trump back in office and another potential shutdown looming, Schiff appears to have shifted the focus, placing responsibility on Republicans. In a recent TikTok video, he argued that the government shutdown would fall on the Republican-controlled Congress and the Trump administration.
“So is the government shutting down? Well, that depends on Donald Trump and the Republicans. They control the White House. They control the House. They control the Senate. It’s really up to them,” Schiff said. He also suggested a short-term funding solution could help establish consistent budget levels across government departments while maintaining presidential oversight.
Critics quickly pointed out what they view as hypocrisy, noting that during the Biden administration, Schiff and other Democrats used partisan budget measures to push their agenda. Social media users have been vocal, highlighting the perceived inconsistency between Schiff’s 2023 statements and his current position.
