The city of Minneapolis is still grappling with the aftermath of a fatal encounter involving ICE agent Jonathan Ross and Renee Nicole Good, a 37-year-old mother of three. The incident has sparked intense debate nationwide, prompting donations to support both Good’s family and Ross. Local residents continue to mourn Good, who was remembered for her dedication to her children and her community. Meanwhile, high-profile figures, including former President Donald Trump, have defended Ross, stating that he acted within his duties.
Fundraising Efforts for Both Sides
In recent days, financial support for Jonathan Ross has accumulated through multiple campaigns. A GoFundMe campaign has raised $614,000, while a GiveSendGo fundraiser has brought in $248,000, bringing the total to $862,000.
Jacob Wells, co-founder of GiveSendGo, shared a message from Ross on social media:
“I just got off the phone with the ICE agent involved in this horrible situation. He is extremely appreciative of the support from all of you. We will be releasing funds soon to him so he doesn’t have to worry about his family’s or his safety.”
Jonathan Ross’ Background
Jonathan Ross, a U.S. military veteran who served in Iraq, returned home in 2005. He joined the Border Patrol in El Paso, Texas, in 2007 and worked as a field intelligence agent until 2015. That year, he transitioned to ICE as a deportation officer based in Minnesota.
Neighbor Claims About Ross’ Profession
Residents of Ross’ neighborhood have shared surprising insights about the agent’s private life. One neighbor, speaking anonymously to People Magazine, stated she had no idea Ross worked for ICE.
“I met him at a neighborhood garage party during the pandemic,” she said. “He said he worked with plants, as a botanist. He lied about his profession.”
She described Ross as reserved and noted that his wife was polite and outgoing, with the couple raising a few children. The revelation that Ross was involved in the fatal shooting shocked her.
“Really hard to process,” she added. “Agents had moved his belongings out of his house after the shooting. It creeps me out. It’s upsetting.”
The neighbor explained that the neighborhood has been affected quietly, as residents attempt to maintain peace while processing the shocking news.
“I think it impacted a lot of our neighbors that way. People really haven’t been talking about it because you just want to maintain some peace on the road — you don’t want to start fights. But it’s just really hard to process. And then every day, you hear about more people getting detained.”
