How Karma Took Flight: When Patience Outlasts Entitlement
For the first time in hours, I could finally relax. The hum of the engine replaced the sound of coughing and crinkling snack bags, and peace returned to the cabin. An older gentleman across the aisle winked and said, “Well done, son. We were all rooting for you.” I chuckled, finally sipping my drink.
But karma wasn’t quite finished with Dave and Lia. Midway through the flight, turbulence hit. Drinks spilled, trays rattled—and from the back of the plane came a startled yelp. I didn’t even have to look to know who it was.
As if on cue, the honeymooners tried one last stunt—a fake “emergency” bathroom trip just before landing. But the crew, now fully briefed on their antics, turned them right back around. Lia’s frustrated sigh carried through the cabin, and I had to suppress a grin.
When the plane finally touched down in California, I gathered my things and headed for the exit. I saw my wife and little boy waiting at arrivals, smiling and waving. The chaos of the flight faded instantly.
That’s when it hit me: sometimes, life tests your patience in the most absurd ways. You can’t control other people’s behavior, but you can control how you respond. That flight could’ve ended in anger—but instead, it ended with a reminder.
Respect goes further than entitlement. Kindness travels smoother than arrogance. And karma? Well, it’s always flying standby.
As I walked into the terminal, I couldn’t help but laugh. “To peaceful flights,” I muttered again, “and to knowing when to keep your seat—and your cool.”
