Greta Thunberg, the 22-year-old Swedish climate activist, has returned to her home country after being detained in Israel, and she is now sharing harrowing details of her experience. Among the most shocking revelations, Thunberg says a derogatory phrase was written on her suitcase during her captivity, a symbol of the abuse she claims to have endured.
Traumatic Experience at Sea and in Custody
Thunberg was detained in early October after joining a flotilla of more than 40 vessels carrying humanitarian aid to Gaza, deliberately challenging Israel’s longstanding naval blockade. The Israeli Navy intercepted the ships, taking Thunberg, Mandla Mandela—grandson of Nelson Mandela—and several European politicians into custody.
Since returning to Sweden, Thunberg has struggled with sleep and lingering anxiety. She now lives in a shared home, where the first night brought relief with uninterrupted sleep. However, the following night, a recurring nightmare about bombed boats allowed her only about 30 minutes of rest, highlighting the psychological toll of her ordeal. “My brain doesn’t work like it usually does,” Thunberg told Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet.
They beat her face all to hell did they ? What a mess she is !!!
