Scott Jennings, a conservative commentator on CNN, surprised several panelists by disputing the notion that declining public trust in legacy media is solely the fault of conservatives. Instead, he argued that mainstream outlets themselves have contributed to the problem through biased, pro-Democrat reporting.
“What the right has done is capitalize on the frustration of Americans who are saying, ‘enough is enough,’” Jennings said, responding to panelist and author Jeff Jarvis, who claimed the media is under conservative attack.
“They’re frustrated by media coverage that seems to favor one party, prioritize narratives over facts, and present a one-sided viewpoint. People are tired of being told which perspective is correct rather than being presented the full story,” he continued.
Jennings also pointed to a recent decision by “60 Minutes” executive producer Bill Owens to step down, following controversy over edited segments of then-Vice President Kamala Harris’ pre-election interview. The edits reportedly made her appear more favorable, raising questions about journalistic fairness.
“If I had any advice for ’60 Minutes’ or any outlet, it would be: cover the news fairly and stop influencing outcomes during campaigns,” Jennings added.
