Elon Musk and Donald Trump Seem to Reconcile at Charlie Kirk’s Funeral

The funeral of Charlie Kirk, co-founder of Turning Point USA, brought together prominent figures from politics, business, and media, and featured a moment that quickly captured public attention: Elon Musk and Donald Trump appeared to reconcile after a period of public estrangement.

Thousands of mourners gathered on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, to honor Kirk, who was tragically shot and killed on September 10 while delivering a speech at Utah Valley University during his organization’s comeback tour. His sudden death has sparked nationwide reflection on free speech, political violence, and the future of conservative activism.

Arrest in Kirk’s Shooting

Authorities have confirmed that 22-year-old Tyler Robinson was arrested in connection with the shooting. He faces multiple charges, including aggravated murder, criminal discharge of a firearm causing serious injury, obstruction of justice, and witness tampering, among others. The arrest marks a major step in the ongoing investigation into Kirk’s death.

A Notable Interaction

During the funeral, Musk and Trump were observed sitting near each other and engaging in a brief conversation. The two had publicly disagreed in recent months, making this exchange a significant moment.

Professional lip reader Nicola Hickling detailed the interaction, noting that Trump initially greeted Musk with, “How are you doing?” before suggesting, “Let’s try and work out how to get back on track.” Musk reportedly nodded in agreement, and the two shook hands. Though brief, the gesture hinted at a possible softening of tensions between the two influential figures.

Their encounter is particularly notable given Musk’s resignation earlier this year from his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which had symbolized his collaboration with the Trump administration.

But while the conversation suggested a thaw, differences between Musk and Trump remain, particularly regarding Trump’s proposed “One Big Beautiful Bill” aimed at streamlining government processes. Musk warned the plan could increase the national debt, while Trump dismissed the concerns and used strong language to express his disagreement.

This funeral not only offered a space to mourn Kirk’s loss but also provided a stage where high-profile figures interacted in ways that could influence future political and business dynamics.

The story, however, doesn’t end with a handshake…
