“Big John” Fisher Spends Birthday in Detention as Fans Rally Behind Him

Spending his 52nd birthday in an Australian detention hotel, “Big John” Fisher shared emotional updates with fans about his ordeal. The British social media star, who had travelled to Australia for a week of fan events, said he was “absolutely gutted” to miss his scheduled appearances but remained optimistic as supporters flooded his social media pages with messages of encouragement.

Fisher revealed that many followers had offered to deliver food to him while he waited for deportation, but strict rules prevented him from receiving any outside items. In a post filled with gratitude and humour, he wrote, “Thank you for the gesture but if you have got me food please take to a food bank -Bosh.”

His son, British heavyweight boxer Johnny Fisher, confirmed the news on Instagram, writing that his father would be flown home soon. “Rumour has it they are frightened of his express pace bowling ahead of the Ashes,” he joked, in a light-hearted nod to the situation.

Before the incident, Fisher was scheduled to take part in four events across Australia, including hosting a “Bucking Bull” challenge at a greyhound race in Sydney and performing a DJ set at a Perth horse racing meet. The trip was meant to be a celebration of his growing fanbase and a chance to meet followers from around the world.

Fisher first rose to fame through his enthusiastic fast food videos, often featuring local takeaways, pub meals, and home-cooked favourites. His approachable style and good humour have made him a standout figure in British social media culture. Recently, he appeared on BBC’s Newsnight to discuss a vandalised Chinese takeaway in York and later visited the business to show support, reviewing its food and encouraging followers to do the same.

Although his Australian tour ended unexpectedly, Fisher told fans he remains positive and grateful for their support. “I’m still smiling and I still love Australia,” he wrote — ending once again with his unmistakable and ever-cheerful “bosh.”
