A Black Man Misses His Dream Job Interview To Save A Dying Stranger On A

Days turned into weeks, and Marcus struggled to shake the regret of missing his interview at Wentworth & Co. He had pictured his career taking off there, yet now he found himself back on the job hunt, attending interviews that left him uninspired.

One crisp afternoon, as Marcus scrolled through job listings at a coffee shop, his phone buzzed with an unfamiliar number. Hesitant, he answered.

“Hello, is this Marcus Johnson?” asked a deep, commanding voice.

“Yes, this is he,” Marcus replied, curiosity piqued.

The voice introduced itself as James Wentworth, CEO of Wentworth & Co. Marcus froze. It was the very man whose life he had saved weeks before.

“Mr. Johnson, I believe we were supposed to meet a few weeks ago,” Wentworth said. “I want to express my deepest gratitude. The doctors told me that if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t be here today.”

Marcus was stunned. He had never realized the man he helped was the same one he was meant to impress in his missed interview.

“I had no idea it was you, sir,” Marcus admitted, disbelief lacing his tone.

“Well, you didn’t just save my life, Marcus. You displayed integrity and selflessness that are rare. I’ve reviewed your application and credentials, and I believe you belong at Wentworth & Co.”

Marcus was speechless. His dream job, once lost, was suddenly within reach — thanks to a selfless act he had taken for granted.
