Beloved comedian and actor Martin Mull has passed away at the age of 80. His daughter, Maggie Mull, shared the news on Instagram, revealing that he died at home โ€œafter a valiant fight against a long illness.โ€

โ€œHe excelled at every creative discipline imaginable,โ€ she wrote, โ€œand also did Red Roof Inn commercialsโ€”that joke would have made him laugh. He was always funny. Friends, coworkers, fellow artists, comedians, musicians, and countless dogs will miss my dad dearly. My mom, my sister, and I will miss him more than words can express. I loved him very much.โ€

Mull was perhaps best known for his television roles, including Coach Willard Kraft on Sabrina the Teenage Witch and Leon Carp, a close friend of Roseanne Connor on Roseanne. He also portrayed the private investigator Gene Parmesean on the cult favorite Arrested Development.

In 2016, Mull earned his first and only Emmy nomination for his performance as Bob Bradley on Veep, showcasing his sharp comedic talent.

Beyond acting, Mullโ€™s career spanned an array of creative pursuits, often blending humor and music. He collaborated with Fred Willard to write the 1985 mockumentary The History of White People in America and had a passion for composing songs that made audiences laugh.
