Fetterman Outrages Democrats Again With Statement About ICE

Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) has expressed support for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) recent arrests of illegal immigrants charged with child sex offenses, while Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-Fla.) suggested even harsher penalties, including the death penalty, for those individuals.

In a Monday press release, ICE reported that 214 illegal immigrants in the Houston area had been arrested over the past six months for immigration violations and were either charged with or convicted of sexual offenses involving minors. One notable case involved Jose Guadalupe Meza, a 40-year-old Mexican national previously deported four times, who was convicted of theft and sexual assault of a child before being removed back to Mexico.

Fetterman acknowledged that he does not support all of ICE’s tactics but praised enforcement actions targeting serious offenders. “I don’t support or agree with all of ICE’s tactics or actions. I do fully support moves like these. This makes our nation more secure and all our children safer,” he posted on X.

Meanwhile, Luna posted a more extreme response: “Skip deportation. Go directly to the death penalty. Do not pass go. Do not collect $200.”

ICE officials emphasized the broader context of their operations. Paul McBride, acting director of ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations in Houston, stated that coordinated federal law enforcement efforts over the past four years have led to historic arrests of violent criminal aliens, transnational gang members, and child sex offenders.

While Fetterman has historically supported ICE’s efforts, he and other Democrats opposed the “Big, Beautiful Bill,” which included tens of billions in additional funding for ICE and for completing the border wall initiated during President Donald Trump’s first term.
