Immigration authorities in Chicago have taken into custody 52-year-old Jose Luis Mendoza-Gonzalez, a Mexican national living in Waukegan, Illinois, who is accused of decapitating a missing woman and storing her body in a bleach-filled container.
Mendoza-Gonzalez was originally arrested in April and charged with concealing a corpse, abuse of a corpse, and obstruction of justice. Despite the severity of the allegations, Lake County Judge Randie Bruno ordered his release shortly after his initial court appearance.
He was re-arrested Saturday at a Chicago market by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents and is now being held in ICE custody.
The victim, 37-year-old Megan Bos, had been reported missing in March, though her family said she disappeared in February. Authorities found her body on Mendoza-Gonzalez’s property, in a storage container filled with bleach. Officials indicated that Bos had been decapitated and that her body had been kept on the property for nearly two months.
