Trump Sends Troops to Los Angeles, Warns Protestors of Repercussions

As peace efforts abroad continue, President Trump also addressed domestic unrest, promising consequences for protestors involved in anti-ICE demonstrations in Los Angeles. He specifically condemned individuals accused of spitting on police officers during the riots.

Over the weekend, Trump authorized the deployment of at least 2,000 National Guard troops to Los Angeles in response to escalating protests over ICE raids on employers. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth also placed 500 U.S. Marines from Camp Pendleton on standby. Trump further said he is considering invoking the Insurrection Act should the unrest persist.

While federalized National Guard forces are already in position, demonstrations are expected to continue into the week. Trump, speaking alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio before boarding Air Force One, emphasized that his administration would not tolerate attacks on law enforcement or disorder in the streets.

The developments in Los Angeles mark the latest challenge for the administration as it navigates both international tensions over Ukraine and domestic conflicts tied to immigration enforcement.
