Kelly Clarkson Returns to The Voice as Full-Time Coach for Season 25

NBC confirmed today that Kelly Clarkson, Grammy-winning singer and talk show host, will return as a full-time coach for the 25th season of The Voice. The announcement came during a live press event in New York, where Clarkson joined current judges John Legend and Chance the Rapper.

“I’m so excited to be back,” Clarkson said, smiling at the crowd. “This show changed my life in so many ways, and I can’t wait to help discover the next generation of talent.”

Clarkson first joined The Voice in 2018 and quickly became a fan favorite, known for her mix of humor, authenticity, and musical insight. She remained a coach through 2023 before stepping away to focus on The Kelly Clarkson Show.

NBC’s reality TV chief Jenny Garth called Clarkson “the heart and soul of The Voice,” praising her ability to connect with both contestants and audiences. Season 25 will also feature country legend Reba McEntire and John Legend, with the fourth coach yet to be announced.

Fans and former coaches have already celebrated the news. Blake Shelton joked about hearing Clarkson’s signature line again, while Ariana Grande called it “the best possible news for the show and the contestants.” Social media erupted with clips of Clarkson’s most memorable moments on the show, from heartfelt mentorship to playful rivalries.

Clarkson’s return comes as The Voice seeks to regain ratings momentum after several high-profile departures. Industry experts predict her dual role as talk show host and coach could allow for cross-promotional opportunities, potentially boosting viewership for both shows.

“This is about the artists,” Clarkson told reporters. “The Voice gave me the chance to be the kind of mentor I wish I had when I started out. Coming back feels like picking up right where I left off.”

Season 25 is set to begin filming this fall, promising powerhouse performances, emotional mentorship, and Clarkson’s trademark humor. As Clarkson said with a grin: “It’s good to be home.”
